With the goal of providing a respectful e-platform to strengthen our community ties, the GSFL has created a special Facebook group. Please note that this group is actively moderated by the GSFL officer. Contributions are expected to be in line with our society’s mission statement, focus on FL subject-matter, and benefit researchers, practitioners, and students within the FL community. Visitors and participants are expected to adhere to the regulations of the GSFL FB Code of Practice.
CODE OF PRACTICE
1. Be polite and constructive.
Our goal has always been to promote cooperative work within the field of Forensic Linguistics and Phonetics. In becoming a GSFL FB member, you agree to help to create a supportive, collegial, and participatory environment for all members
2. Think before you post.
Members are responsible for the content of their own postings, comments, and messages.
3. Be considerate towards other opinions.
While active scientific debate is encouraged, we do not allow insulting or injurious commentary that undermines constructive open communication and/or creates an environment of marginalisation, intimidation, and exclusion.
4. Avoid engaging with inflammatory content.
If you encounter any content that you consider to be inflammatory or in violation of our codes of practice, simply select “Report to admin” on the upper right-hand corner of the post, and our administrative team will take care of the rest. Abusive, hurtful, disrepectful, offensive and/or predatory behavior will NOT be tolerated in the GSFL. The GSFL was created to offer a safe and welcoming space. Please do not hesitate to report abuse.
5. Respect and protect privacy.
Your contributions are widely viewable. Remember this for restrictions on what you can/cannot discuss publicly within your research. Do not pass on private information of others without their explicit written and signed consent.
6. Respect intellectual property.
Refrain from posting copyrighted material. While exchange of ideas and sources is encouraged, do be mindful that coursework assistance (ghost-writing) could be seen as academic fraud.
7. Do not post commerical promotions or content irrelevant to FL.
Contributions must be in line with our society’s mission statement, focus on FL subject-matter, and benefit researchers, practitioners, and students within the FL community. The purpose of this group is not personal gain. Any promotional announcement made without pre-approval by the Moderator will be removed as a violation of our Code of Practice.
8. When in doubt about whether content is permissible, contact the FB administrative team.
If you want to share something but you are not sure if it is of value to the Group, please send your materials to the admin team for a pre-approval. We will also be happy to forward them on your behalf.
N.B.: Facebook Community Standards also apply here. In addition, the GSFL retains the right to amend and update the CoP. The Group members will be promptly notified of any of such updates to the GSFL Code of Practice
